I stayed along time ago!
The chalets were commenced in the mid 1970s. The last buildings finished sometime in the mid 80s. Many of our guests have stayed before, and come back with fond memories. We are the 3rd owners.
In the early days the chalets were considered to be one step up from camping. You did it all including choping wood, changing gas bottles etc etc...
Well not everything was good in the good ol' days, including a distinct lack of maintenance over the passing years, and times have moved on, including the regulations to make staying safer.
We urge former guests to read the following before booking;
* We are the first owners to live on site.
* No camp fires of any sort are permitted on the site at any time.(NB: Gas BBQs available)
* No chopping of wood - We want you to leave with all of your toes!
* No young children in chalets with wood fires.
* No sleeping downstairs.
* No trundle beds in use.
* No you can not have 27,000 people in one chalet!
* The wildlife stays outside now - the chalets have been sealled up.
* The chalets are now warm. You get a 5 star gas heater & wood fire, an electric blanket on the beds, & fan heater or halogens in the bathroom.
* We shut the unheated chalet for winter.
* Most chalets have automatic changeover of 45kg gas bottles.
* Gas water heaters are self igniting.
* The taps all work and toilets all stop filling, the windows don't rattle, and and and I could go on forever, and it probably will.......
The spirit at the Porongurup Chalets hasn't changed, just got better.
Come back and enjoy.
