
Directions.
From Perth
1. Leave Perth via Albany Highway.1a. On Albany Highway at the Armadale turnoff follow 'Albany', rather than South West Coastal Hwy to Albany( & Bunbury).
2. Allow approx 5 hours for the journey.(Includes a 30min & 15 min break)
3. Two small towns en route are 'Williams', approx 150kms from Perth
- A recommended rest point with cafe and shops is the 'Williams Woolshed' on the main road through.
3b. 'Kojanup' a further 100kms from Williams.
Good eatery is the 'Country Kitchen' opposite the Shire Offices in the main street.
Alternatively a small park is also on the main street just opposite the Kodja exhibition suitable for an outdoors break.
4. 'Mt Barker' 100kms from Kodjanup.
4a. In Mt Barker turn left off Albany Hwy signposted Porongurups Tourist drive 252.
4b. Travel 22 kms till you reach signpost for Porongurups.
4c. Pass Porongurup shop, Karribanks and Caravan Park.
4d. Diagonally opposite caravan park on main road into the National Park, and signposted as such is the Porongurup Chalets, with entrance clearly marked.
4e. Office and our home is signposted.
Journey 350kms from Perth.
We are 45 mins from Albany via Chester Pass road, 40 mins Stirling Ranges, 20 mins Mt Barker, 1 hour Denmark via Manjimup road.
From Albany
1. Leave Albany at Main Albany Hwy roundabout signposted Esperance & Borden on Chester Pass Road.2. At Baker's Junction Roadhouse ignore Sth Coastal Hwy to Esperance, and continue on road signposted to Borden.
3. Approx 30 kms later turn left signposted Porongurup National Park & Porongurup.
4. Travel 10kms to Porongurup village sign.
5. First left signposted National Park.
6. Chalets are on left corner, entrance off Bolganup Road.
From Borden/Gnowangurup
1. Off Chester Pass Road turn right signposted Porongurup National Park.2. Travel 10kms to Porongurup village sign.
3. Chalets are on left corner, entrance off Bolganup Road.
From Manjimup & Denmark
1. To Mount Barker on Muirs Hwy.2. At Mt Barker northern bypass roundabout intersection with Albany Highway take 3rd exit (ie turn right) follow signs to Albany.
3. Continue down Albany Highway with signposting on left for Porongurup.
4. Details then as per section 4a above 'From Perth'.
Food
Mt Barker has a good size IGA Supermarket for food.
NB: It does not trade on Sundays.
We supply tea and real coffee but as starter items only.
Porongurup
-The Porongurup shop sells papers, milk and staple food items, as well as breakfast & light lunches, some evening meals in high season, open 7 days.-Maleeyas (Thai restaurant) open Friday, Sat and Sun. Normally closed all of August.
Mount Barker
Pizza Polo - Wed to Sun 4pm - 8pm. (Wood fired Pizza and southern style chicken, eat in or take away.)Wing Hing (Chinese, inc takeaway)- Evening Tues to Sun 5pm-9pm. Lunch Wed to Fri 12pm - 2pm.
The Grocery Store (does sandwiches, light meals and gourmet food)-daytime.
The Bretzel (Diner) - daytime, Fridays some takeaways.
The Station House (Cafe) - daytime and some early evenings(varies).
The Plantagent Hotel (Evening meals and lunches) - most days.
The Top Pub (Mt Barker Hotel) & Sail Inn Cafe (assorted meals)- most days.
